Tom Byrne
Tom is a native of Celbridge, Co Kildare, but lives in nearby Leixlip. He has over 35 years involvement with amateur drama and is currently joint Artistic Director of Red Embers Theatre Company.
Tom has won numerous awards as a director and successfully qualified productions to the RTÉ All Ireland finals in Athlone in 2009 and 2010. He holds the unique record of qualifying productions to six successive All Ireland One Act Finals, directing All Ireland winning productions in 2005, 2009 and 2010.
He has directed over 100 different productions and Friel, Shepard, O’Casey and Miller are among his favourite authors. In 2016 he directed All for the Bloody Land, Bouncers and The Turn of the Screw. As a writer his radio play Howzee, based around his experience as a football referee, has been broadcast by RTÉ and his latest work for the stage This Other Land was performed in Castletown House earlier this year.
Since taking up adjudicating in 2011 he has adjudicated in the four provinces of Ireland and he currently enjoys adjudication bookings up to the year 2020.
