Event Title: 'The Crucible' by Arthur Miller
Tuesday, 25 March 2014
Geoffrey O'Keeffe is directing 'The Crucible' for Balally Players. The play, which is based on the Salem Massachusetts witch trials of 1692, is a large ensemble piece in four acts.

Arthur Miller wrote 'The Crucible' in 1953. The play was written with clear allegorical references to 'McCarthyism', the U.S. government's campaign against communists. The fact that today, political and religious beliefs are still sometimes used to justify discrimination and to deny basic rights, continues to give this play a contemporary relevance.
